Reel case

Post by Tony Malatesta »

Finally got my presentation case built. Now i can show off some of my Canadian reels and not keep them locked up.Top 4 shelves are common to very hard to find reels.Mostly trolling, fly and casting.Snd. last row are all the Inglis built Shakespeare reels built right in my home town of Toronto.Last shelf, just to fill up space, are my largest OC reels.

Beautiful case.

I like those two Balboa's on the bottom shelf and I think I have seen the 12/0 somewhere. :)

Great display case, Tony, and a wonderful collection of Canadian reels!
Tell me more about that skeleton fly reel on the right side of the top shelf. Is that an Eckmier? Sure looks like it. I have one and I've been trying to find out SOMETHING about about the company and the era it was made. Any ideas? Information?
Thanks for sharing your photos.

Hi Richard: Yes this is an Eckmier.Other than the reel being stamped Made In Canada, ther is no other info. available. Most reels manufactured in Canada were of the World War era and were usually made as a side line to a companies existing product line.Unfortunately, poor record keeping or no records at all was common among the Canadian companies.
