Re: ABU CARDINAL 33X
Hi,
They are releasing the 33 x in Febuary, Japan ONLY reel, retail will be about $420 U.S. if you are interested. I personally have the original proto they made back about 2005 when it was going to be released but they delayed it a few years and changed it a little.

So what's hot about the 33X?
In that price range I have a Certate 2000 I am really tickled with - dynamite Smallie reel ...
What do you use the 33X for?

Re: ABU CARDINAL 33X
Len,
In my opinion they would be a great reel for walleyes under 10# and most smaller species. A great ultra lite reel, arguably one of the best ever made! They're a little on the light side for northern, salmon, big trout, etc., though. They're 5.9:1 instead of 5.1:1 like the standard C3 or 33 but I'm thinking the main purpose for a 33E or 33X 5.9:1 has to be for sitting on the shelf to look at and later for pocketing a $ or 3 down the line from somebody who just has to have one when there aren't any more available. A Zebco or ABU Cardinal 3 will do the same thing only a little slower for 1/4 the price or less if you really want to use one and maybe replace a part or 2, add an aluminum spool and doing a good service. I don't know about you, but I don't cast upstream and reel back downstream very often. When I cast upstream I usually let it float back down keeping the slack outl!

Re: ABU CARDINAL 33X
Thanks Tom,
That's helpful - and exactly how I fish the river for Smallies. Just don't let the Geezer know we're talkin' about such new stuff - it makes him feel all justified, and once again ahead of the curve . . .
