I finally put all my trolley sinkers together in one place. I am always looking to add to my to Trolley Sinker Collection.

Hey, can you tell us a bit about how those sinkers were used and in what contexts?

Back in the day, way back, my dad would tie a brick on a heavy line and wind up and fling it out as far as he could. He would put a trolley sinker on the line with a short leader with a couple snelled hooks. This was tied to another length of line. The trolley sinker would roll down the anchored line taking your baited hooks out to the desired distance. Catch a fish pull it up and repeat. I guess the idea was that you didn't have to throw the brick again.
The other oldey was throw out lines which were thrown out each time you caught a fish. They were attached to bells which were screwed into a board or tree that would signal a bite.
These were used by the guys that couldn't afford those fancy fishing reels !
