Why No Bids
Why No Bids
If it was'nt so close to Christmas and cash is tight I would have jumped on this auction. I was very suprised to see it end with no bids. Now I'm curious as to why no bidders. Can someone shed some light on what I'm missing here. Please give me your opinion, please. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vi ... RK:MEWA:IT
My guess is the high opening bid was the problem. If you want folks to get excited about bidding you can't start with a high bid... you have to let them work up to it. Once they get "auction fever" they might get carried away and go severals bids past where they intended to stop. But, when the first bid is near, or past where they want to end up... well, that's not very exciting.

Kevin: I think it was also because the seller said he had the box, but it had no label. Then he also said the reel was brass, even though it sure didn't look it. There was no information about whether the click or drag worked (I know you could ask this, but it helps when the information is posted with the sale). You just get the general impression that this seller had no idea what he had, so who wants to start at $195 on a pig in a poke (whatever that means). And I agree with Dean about the high starting bid.

A good reason to buy the reel at a show!
Bogus box, blurry pic, few details, big first bid, bad feedback...and the greatest of these is... bad feedback.

i for one will not make a high bid on a reel that has line on it was burned once on a $200.reel that had a rusted out spool and if the seller is so lazy to not take it off or the saying about still has antique line on it then they wont see my money carl
