I have no idea of this reel's history, but since it was the fifth 3-30 reel produced by Heddon, you can imagine that it went into the hands of an outstanding tournament caster, to publicize the reel. A similar reel, but with a double handled crank, sold for $1,329 (Page 17) according to the most recent edition of THE REEL NEWS.
