Most of you are too young to remember a famous cure-all elixir named Hadacol. Sold mostly in the south where practically every county was dry in those days (1940s). Reason it was popular-it was 12percent alcohol! It was eventually banned but while still being available it was sold only in liquor stores in Chicago. Company was proud of testimonials. My favorite, true or not, was from a lady in Tuscallosa. She said: "Everything I eat upset my stomach. But after just three bottles of Hadacol I was cured. Now I'll put my stomach up against anybody's in Alabama!"
