I am trying to determine an approximate value range for this reel. It is in excellent or better condition--not having been used since 1981.
Can't find much info, except that it was produced for a very short period of time around 1978--and then discontinued. It has a wide spool.
I just received it, and am puzzled by the lack of information available. Or, maybe I'm just not looking in the right places. It will be for sale after a price range is determined.
Thanks in advance for the assistance.

That reel is listed as a new edition in a copyright 1977 catalogue i have. Judging from past ebay auctions, value in the $250 range is about right...wide spool is generally preferred on the bigger reels, but this one was likely produced in response to the rather hideous weight of the standard internationals, so not sure the added line capacity outweighed the weight gain. Cute reel...not sure why they discontinued it.

Thanks for your information John. I appreciate your quick answer.
The 'Nashes generally don't have much of a collector value. I think what you need to find is ENTHUSIAST value. California likes small reels. A 12W might be popular with the longrange fishing crowd. It still has the post frame and non-HS gears, but still.

The reel does not have a box. No scratches. Very, very nice condition.
If someone wants a picture--let me know.
Thanks for the help & Merry Xmas, Fred

The 12W is a pretty neat reel but I can't imagine many would want to actualy fish it today: You lose the free spool very quickly as you notch up the drag pressure so it really can't fish line any heavier than about 20# test. I think it as originally designed for salifish but it's better to horse them in so they can be released quickly. Put it on the shelf and admire it!
Yes AK, but that problem applies to almost all lever-drag reels as the spool bearings are put under axial load. Fortunately, the problem can be (and often is) easily remedied by the addition of a spool bearing sleeve. The need for good freespool is paramount when casting live bait.
Upon closer reflection, I can't really remember the W model, only the 12, the fast geared version, the T and the LT. Maybe you have a cult classic there, Fred.
