I want one too; just for a little while to try it. I use to have a baitcast rod with eyes spiraling from top to bottom so most of the line was under the rod. Then someone backed over it and it became an ice fishing rod . . .

I don't think that the spiral guides wraped rod would conpaire to the bass handler the line go's in a strait line further cast , unlike the spiral would slow down the casting as well twist the guide I would not wrap a rod like that. with the bass handler one handle it could be made out of lighter and out of graphite and a strait grip would be nice ...at least for some one to post pics of one I can use to make them .

I agree with your assessment. I wonder why we don't see rods built like that today?

Spiral wraps don't twist the guides. I made and fished with a couple of spiral wrap rods in the 1980s and didn't care for the idea. I tried again when they became very popular this past decade, but again gave up on that guide setup. The bass handler one handle probably didn't succeed because it is too radical. If your plan is to have the guides facing downward, the spiral wrap is the way to go. However, if you are just trying to get a straight shot down the guides, you might combine an old offset handle with new graphite technology like I did last year. This is a 6'8" graphite rod built using an old casting rod handle.

I think the bass handler one handle was a head of its time . and spiral guides when the rod is flexed in other direction of the middle blank the guide the stress on the blank the guides want to align strait.
