Cozzone Handle

Post by Brian F. »

Recently got this and was interested in it because of the handle that is marked Cozzone. The reel is a Montague but the handle looked like what I've seen referred to as a Cozzone Bonefish handle. The thing I found different is that I don't recall seeing them with star drags for one. The other is that the star drag looked a lot like the Williams drag handle. Upon taking it apart, it is maybe just one or two parts less and a tiny bit simpler than the Pflueger Williams counterpart. Otherwise, the design seems almost identical. Does anyone have any information or thoughts on this particular handle?

The attached photos show the pieces in order as they came off the reel (the sequence is actually from far right to left). Based on the Williams drag handle papers, I have a feeling the small fiber washer was misplaced into the stack of larger washers and really should be under the screw cap.
