The nickel silver reel has a replaced crank handle. Also the #2 numbered screw at 5 o'clock was lost somewhere along on its journey, and some very professional machinist inserted a nickel silver sleeve and replaced the numbered screw with a nickel silver un-numbered screw. Turns easily, etc. It has am engraving showing it was presented in 1866, the year after the Civil War ended.
The brass reel is the one I just found. It is all original "as found." It has two numbered screws which are intact (1 o'clock and 5 o'clock positions. Turns easily and has a good sounding click. It was presented in 1863, during the height of the Civil War.
SELLING BOTH REELS IN ONE DEAL IS MY PRIORITY, but if you don't want both feel free to make an offer of the one you do want.
