A limerick for you!

Post by RAM »

An ORCAn by the name of Les Moore
bragged he bought cheap reels by the score.
But when time came to sell
he was reluctant to tell
That they usually brought less, not more!

Exactly why I have never made it a practice to sell, Couldn't stand the tears. Many times as soon as I've bought them I have realized I overpaid. Sometimes it's when they arrive in the mail. I have given a few away when I knew some else would get some enjoyment out of one. I have never attempted to collect for profit. Mater of fact, not sure I ever bought anything in my life that I ended up selling for more that I paid.

Once was a collector named kring,
Who gave his hands a good wring,
When wallet left pocket
Except to restock it
With cash to fill up the thing

There once was a guy named Elder,
A very poetic Felder,
Had more cash than I,
And Reels stacked to the Sky,
If you had one for sale,
This is no tale,
He or Ellis would surely buy.

(Not my best effort but it beats, "There once was a man from Watrass"

"John" : Will be watching in the upcoming days for the puff of white smoke to appear from the chimney at the compound in Alpharetta.

There once was a man from Watrass,
Who collected reels from the past,
When he brought them together for shows or whatever,
ORCA folks marveled at what he'd amassed.

(Not exactly how I learned it in the days of my youth, but fit for mixed company)

I hear of some gents on this board
Who claim to collect but just hoard
They have reels that should gleam
Which still need to be cleaned
And are stacked up on shelves by the cord

Shoe fits on my foot, thats for sure :P

There once was a guy named "Bad Bob".
He'd have you think he was bad as the mob.
But he's a nice guy you see.
And a bit older than me.
And when it comes to Reels, knows a gob.

Bit older? To quote Coleridge:

"Ere I was old? Ah woeful ere,
Which tells me , Youth's no longer here!"

Bad Bob,

I think if you played guitar or piano you might have a career as a song writer, and leaning toward country  You got any poem/stories about your poor ole' dog, wife, kids, girl friend, etc. :Bawl:

You make me grin,

May be hard to believe, but then it may explain a lot. I was raised in an era when the adage "Children should be seen ,not heard" was essentially law. Being outspoken was unacceptable in the presence of adults. We took orders like privates on the front lines, never daring to talk back. Just making up for early years of suppressed opinions!

BB,
Me too, but for some unknown :? reason it appeared I enjoyed getting my butt whipped since I never knew when keep my mouth shut. :bricks: Good thing they initiated the draft lottery when they did. I got a way high # and never got drafted. Otherwise my mouth :loco: probably would have gotten me a masters degree in latrine cleaning. I could have used a good attitude adjustment back in those days  and there are those that even think I need one yet today :loco: Hard to imagine such a thing  from a sweet little ole' boy like me
