Red Davis Spinners
Does anyone know much about the Red Davis Spinners. I would say Vintage.
Re: Red Davis Spinners
Who was Red Davis? Is that square dance team? All seriousness aside, I wish I could help. The only lures I know anything about are Heddon River Runt Spooks since I fished with them as a kid . Good luck with this ORCA bunch. These guys don't know any more about baits than they do about particle physics!

Bad Bob,
You must be talking about yourself there
I know all that's needed to know about baits, as do many others here on this forum
: The bait goes on the loose end of the line, which is attached to a reel that is mounted on a nice rod/pole, or stick as you may call it
, and the entire setup is used to catch fish or frogs for delicious, if you know how to cook
table fare
.
What's a River Runt Spook anyway

We use to end up with turtle at our family reunions!
Or whatever else could be caught and cooked!

You can probably get an answer about your lures on "Joe's Old Lures" message board.

I'll check it out. Thanks Don
Re: Red Davis Spinners
Don is a nice helpful guy. I, on the other hand, generally tend to say something dumb, not intending to be offending.
Having said this, in my over one hundred years collecting tackle I never heard of Red Davis. But Red and I do have something other than fishing in common. He never heard of me either.
Cheers for old fools! BB

Bad Bob,
Dumb? Nah, but you are pretty funny, actually hilarious sometimes.
Your comments make me smile.

Re: Red Davis Spinners
Well guys you have me curious now. I need to go take another look at the spinners and make sure I got the name right. It is very curious that noone has heard of them and that I cannot find anything on them. When I get home I am going to take another look. I thought I read it right but who knows I have been wrong before once! lol

O.K. so this should make you happy. We rechecked the spinners, and yes, we did indeed read it wrong the first time around!
Does Les Davis sound any better?

Re: Red Davis Spinners
No Bad Bob they weren't a square dance group, you've been down south way too long
Les Davis was a lure/tackle manufacturer in the Pacific NW. Taken from http://seattletimes.com/html/pacificnw/ ... kle01.html "Also in 1932, a Tacoma fishing whiz introduced his namesake Les Davis Herring Dodger, a metallic flasher that wags its way through the water in front of a baited herring. Tens of millions more salmon have succumbed to the allure in the decades since. And if you walk into a tackle shop today and ask for a "Number 0 Les Davis," someone will know exactly what you want. Powered by constant innovations of local gurus such as Les Davis (a fishing pier in Tacoma bears his name), the industry continued to boom as long as salmon were king, peaking in the 1970s, when the Davis company was believed to be the world's largest tackle manufacturer. Since then, most local companies have been swallowed up by ever-larger competitors. For two decades, one of the biggest feeders was Luhr Jensen & Sons, which ultimately bought more than 40 other manufacturers — including Les Davis in 1986. "
There is a lot more out there about the company if you do a search
. Produced a lot of tackle.

Hmm, now we are getting somewhere
Just had someone call on buying the pole with the spinners. I may have it underpriced if that's the case. I did a little research last night. I better do some more. Tried to send a Pic but could not make it work.

Look at McDonald's Lures on E-bay. They are out of business but their inventory is still online. They make a nice variety. I have purchased a bunch. They are great for catching fish. Many varieties of spinners.
