This Shakespeare Model 1894 (3") Russell reel features a Bakelite spool ...something I have never seen before on a Russell reel. The gear is held to the spool with two long pins that go through to the front of the spool. The rear of the spool carries the number "1", which is raised, not engraved. There is also a stylized "RS" logo, which could possibly be the mark of the company who manufactured the spool. The reel has the desirable dual-spring and pawl drag which is easily tuned to right or left hand wind. The condition is really nice, showing little wear and all is working very well. I have had, seen and handled a ton of Russell reels over the years ...this is a first, for me. $115, shipped. Feel free to make an offer if I am too high as I have no idea how to price this one. Payment by personal check or money order.
