ORCA CD

Post by Dale Noll »

In Feb I joined a local fishing club of about 100 folks. Upon being introduced at my 1st meeting where I mentioned being a member of ORCA. No one there had ever heard of Orca. So went looking for a CD to help describe ORCA. None existed.

Today, ORCA has a PhotoStory on a CD. It will be shown at the Convention in Frankfort next week. A Thank you to those who helped follows:

Roger Schulz, Brian Funai, Steve Vernon, Don Champion, John Elder, Bill Sonnett, Currey Gayle, Jim Schottenham, Richard Lodge, Phil White, Robert Ellis by Proxy, and many of you who provided photos from the Website that are unknown. The statement " Shared Knowledge" is what its all about, came by phone from an ORCAn traveling in Ft Wayne. Thank you all.

Yes, this is really a nice piece of work by Dale that highlights our history, members and benefits that the club provides its members. ...and yes, Dale has suggested it be sold through the ORCA store and we plan to carry through with that...thanks, Dale!

Nice going Dale! Is this the "project" you have been working on for a while and asking all those questions and looking for photos? See you at the national and don't forget, I'm bringing you a reel handle.

Picky Picky Picky! He could have called you "The Arizona Kid". Call me anything, just don't call me late for dinner.

Could this CD somehow be uploaded to You-Tube? Would this be a good way to promote club awareness?
Any thoughts on this...

The promo aspect would be great but wouldn't that pretty much put an end to any future CD sales?

Quite possibly more activity and $ would be generated through the promotional side than actually selling them. Good food for thought  .

Is You-Tube the place where we would expect to find the greatest concentration of potential members? I'm just asking, because I personally never go there.

If it would happen to be down loaded to You Tube it would be best to host the link somewhere here so that when we send it to someone for promo purposes they would also then see everything ORCA has to offer.

Seems tons of folks use You Tube every day, it is one of the most trafficked sites on the web. Having a presence there might be a good way to get people to come to the ORCA web site. Once here they can:

A.) Ask questions about their tackle.
B.) Sell their tackle.
C.) Become a member.
D. All of the above

The only time our video will show up is if people are looking for old reels and search something along those lines in the You Tube search engine.

Any other thoughts...

Good idea? Bad idea?

Good! :)

As your post infers, use other sites as doorways. Using online video media will appeal to a particular subset. Using it on a popular domain like YouTube can only do good. Not only that, it has been proven for a niche competitor of yours and I have no wish to promote them by naming names.

If someone wants to, do it!

Remember to make sure that a link to the site (not the board) is given: http://orcaonline.org/

Include some text relating to what the video/ORCA is about.
