Slow server connection
Slow server connection
Anyone else have a problem connecting from an iPad or iPhone to our ORCA site?
Even when I'm out of town on business on high speed internet it seems lke our server is very slow.
How can we fix this? Thanks.

Unfortunately, same problem recurring this weekend.

I'm noting how others are not reporting issues too.
I just had a quick look and all is extremely well.
Now, just so you know, I am measuring speed from various locations around the globe. I also get a report from Google (albeit around 3 days behind). I have randomly tested since you initially posted and times are always around the 500-800ms mark. In fact, "Your website is faster than 97% of all tested websites" is what the reports say.
There was a significant time between your initial post and my first response. The two things could well have been coincidental.
This has all the appearance of being an issue at your end.
The very reason for my visit here on this occasion is because things were unusually quiet. I'm hoping the hours put in over the last 9 days will keep them at bay for a good while. It may be coincidence though and it is just a quiet day. Nonetheless, there is no reason this end why you should be experiencing slow speeds.
The fact you may have "high speed internet" does not mean that sites or even all sites will load fast. There are many factors involved in getting the end result. All I can say is that this end is OK and has been since my first reply on this.
Don't get me wrong, I will investigate this more later but I am sure this will only confirm what I just said.
You might want to run some tests yourself to see if you can identify the bottle-neck or leech and maybe lead you to a resolution. Also ask yourself what the common factors may be.
If reporting issues, it is extremely helpful to have both a time and timezone. If it refers to specific pages, links will help. "This weekend" involves a few hundred thousand lines of server logs, which makes it very difficult to find a needle in a haystack.
I do encourage anyone who finds any issue, whether it be exceptional and persistent slowness, unusually high activity in the whosonline, an unusual post for whatever reason, etc. to use the email button under my posts to contact me ASAP. 99% of the time, I will attend on receipt - yeah I do sleep sometimes - and the better the information you can supply, the quicker the result will be obtained.
