Biblical Perspective On Collecting

Post by Jonathan P. Kring »

Sometimes when I pick up a new reel or other item for my collection, I think am I in violation of God's Word? I'm not sure there is any way to rationalize it? Mathew Chapter 6 Verse 19 to 21says:
"Don't store up your treasures on earth where they can erode away or may be stolen. Store them in Heaven where they will never loose their value and are safe from thieves. If your profits are in heaven your heart will be there also.

Am I in violation of this? Unfortunately I guess I am. Does this mean we as collectors of anything are wrong?

Do both Jonathan! It's called a diversified portfolio.

How about we make a deal. Which ever one get's there first agrees to PM the other and let them know what's in store. Could be grounds for a tremendous sale!

Like the Pharaohs, you could cover both bases by being stashed in a tasteful pyramid and taking the collection with you. But you have little cause for concern, as the latest Gallup poll showed that only 1 in every 7,321,406 people, and no insurance company, thinks that reels qualify as treasure.

Oh that makes me feel a lot better. Maybe the reels aren't treasure but it sure took the treasury to buy them. (Just got a couple more in today's mail!

Oh my  , that means there are only 42 of us in the :usa and 940 WW that think our reels are a treasure. Why am I all of a sudden starting to get the feeling that every one of y'all are bidding against me when I'm trying to buy a reel?

Hopefully Gallup is wrong, just like in all the other polls they do . Otherwise, we've just about maxed out our membership.
