FS: Leonard-Mills Fairy

Post by EclecticGuy »

This wonderful little reel is unmarked and measures 2-3/8" in diameter - inclusive of the pillar ears, is 3/4" wide, and weighs 2.5 ozs. The check "click" is spectacular. The hard rubber side plates are excellent and all edges on the plates and especially the pillar ears are absolutely sharp. The screws are also perfect and the nickel silver foot is diminutive and exceptional. The protective lacquer still remains on the brass knob spindle head and has taken on a wonderful green patina. I would give this reel a "10" and put it up against any other in terms of quality. It is certainly a fine highly desirable "fairy" reel. I am looking for $1800.00 for this beauty.

Beautiful reel, Michael, but you don't say who the maker is? Is this a Fred Balling reel or did it come from Holireels?

Sorry, no this is NOT a modern reel. It is an original and it is attributed to William Mills & Son but is unmarked.

I am reducing the price on this little beauty to $1600 or best offer. I'm going to accept offers for 2 days (until midnight Thursday) and if the reel is unsold, it will be auctioned.

thanks,
