I am looking for Montague Catalogs with Rods in them. I have a few with reels but I am attempting to get educated on Montague Bamboo. I am willing to pay for any books or catalogs with Bamboo rod details in them. I can be reached by phone @ 360-481-9143

Re: Montague Catalogs
Al,
I'm digging to see what I have. I'll let you know. What time period(s) are you looking for? Pre-war, post-war, both? The really early catalogs (pre-1927) are extremely hard to find. Because they were strictly producing "trade" rods for wholesalers, retailers and jobbers, there were no catalogs meant for the public. Consequently, few exist. For some of the years, none are known to exist. Most references for pre-1927 Montague rods have to be found in the retailer's (hardware stores, mail order catalogs, etc.) own catalogs and the info can be sketchy, making it hard to ID individual models. Like many others, I'm waiting for Rex Eads to publish his works on Montague rods, years and years in the making. One of the most daunting tasks ever undertaken. He too has told me that his search for early catalogs had come up empty in many cases. Much of his research for the earliest models has come from advertisements and retail trade catalogs. When early Montague and Thos. Chubb rod catalogs do come up for auction, they go for BIG bucks. Good luck on your search.
