I recently obtained a really old Penn Surfmaster 201, not a 200. This reel does not have a star drag wheel and it has the knurled eccentric lever and a counterbalanced handle with an extra large knurled piece for the counterbalance. Is this reel very rare and when was it made? Thanks for any info you have.

The 201 is a hard reel to find. It was made in 1940 and 1941 only. I would not call it rare. The smaller version, model 151 is even harder to find than the 201.
