Name something unusual about sunflowers.
And why Google it and betray your innate honesty?

Re: This week's trivia question
BB,
I'm going to post, and I promise I didn't check first, the flower faces east in the morning, up @ noon and west in the afternoon, following the sun. Now I will submit and go check to make sure.

Re: This week's trivia question
I had a biology professor in college that set up cameras to prove that notion...and all he got was a sunburn for the effort, as I recall.
You will note that the sunflower flower is not the green bit...so hard to imagine what good it would do to be rotating that head with the sun unless it was trying to roast bees :-]

Re: This week's trivia question
Contrary to popular notion (me included) the sunflower is a strange plant in that it does not follow the sun. Almost all of them always point east. Love them sunrises!

Re: This week's trivia question

John,
That's because your professor apparently studied them after they had bloomed. Early in their life they tilt during the day to face the sun, but after they start blooming that little anomaly ceases. Ever notice how day lilies seem to try lean and grow toward the sunlight? They'll almost lay horizontal until they finally get to sunlight and then bend their trunk/stalk at a right angle, but day lilies continue trying after the flower sets on until it falls off. Sunflowers generally face east, looking almost like soldiers at attention, after the flower head gets established.
