Comments on a Good Set of Screwdrivers????

Post by Lostinfrance2014 »

Have just stuffed up a super thight Face Plate (Screw Heads) & (Paint) on the faceplate all due to the screwdriver I am using.

Have a set of (Sidchrome) screwdrivers, I have had no real issues on heads that are not (In-Tight) but of late some of the 2nd hand reels I have are subject to some sea spray so they rust up a little.

For some reason, here in Europe, a lot of Screwdrivers are just JUNK with a Capital (J), they bend on the tips or even just break 1/2 the tip of the driver, so now looking for a TOP Quality set.

Now I have just returned from the Man-Shed in the back yard, and dug a hole and BURRIED the bloody driver that nearly also took my other hand finger with it.

Lucky I have a replacement Faceplate, but had it with JUNK drivers.

Any suggestions?

Thanks
Col

The screwdrivers I like best for most reels are old advertising screwdrivers like hardware stores used
to give away.
Not the easiest to find

Forester makes a good quality set of gun smith screw drivers but there are many choices of brands. see Brownells @http://www.brownells.com/gunsmith-tools ... d6634.aspx
or Midway USA @ http://www.midwayusa.com/find?userSearc ... rewdrivers

I use those too. Most of mine have names of bars and taverns though. :)

Some of mine may too. I started out with one or two old ones. I think one was my dads. Bought a couple on e-bay then a friend found out I liked them and bought some at estate sales for me. Could be almost as bad as collecting reels but cost is considerably less.
