Horton (Bristol) made some of the LL Bean reels, if you have a pic we might be able to make the connection.

Bill was right on this one. It is a Bristol 64 made for L.L. Bean.

That's a neat little reel, and of course Ed is right, it's a Bristol No. 64 fly reel. Nice find!

Milt, Horton put it out under their name as a Bristol No. 64 fly reel, and apparently stamped the same reel as a No. 77 for LL Bean's purposes. They also put the LL Bean name on the Bristol No. 65 fly reel (I've only seen pics and do not own one) and - much more significantly for my collection - the Bristol No. 77 level wind bait casting reel (no model number on the LL Bean version). I have a nice example of the bait casting reel in my collection, and am always looking for other Horton-Bristol / LL Bean reels, and, of course, REEL BOXES!
