Black Record 5000

Post by FSREPAIR »

Hi Henrik,

You probably got as good of an idea of this reels value on Joe's last week as you will here. I was surprised to see that you still have it as I thought you had gotten some pretty fair offers already. If you were not satisfied with those offers just list it on Ebay and take a chance you will sell it for more than you were offered. Of course you also run the risk of selling it for less than you have already been offered. Randy Heller

Hello,

My cousin is the hesitant sceptic, if you ever knew the "suspicious" spirit of the Finnish mind, always feeling that the more worldly person is trying to take advantage of you that is all, True and just trying to be fair to him,

Sorry if it drags on or bugs people,

Cheers,

Henrik

Black Record 5000

Post by Stefan Duma »

Just a confirmation of what Randy said, however as you said on Joes Board last week it is not a prototype as I believe that at least 100 examples of the black model were made. I have personally sold 7 examples of this reel over the last 10 years and understand that they were sold in England by Millard Brothers based in Glasgow. I have recieved from $1,800 to $4,200 for the ones I have sold.
I do believe that the prices that I used to sell them for will not return again.
I have also sold three examples of the Green 5000 Record Ambassaduer, they just turn up in England more than they do in Europe or US.

:o :? :!: :?:  I can never see swimming around in the fantisyof greed! you have been givin some very solid advise from some very savy folks in ORCA , first read the BOOK (The Ambassadeur and I by Simon Shimomura a very resonable priced educational BOOK! you can read about the 5000 black record, One thing is none were made in 1958 they were by his research before that date. As it apears yours has the box and paper work that will inhance it somewhat, however any wear, scratches, nicks , or other defects to the true collector will drop its value very fast! Its the same in lures, or guns or any item! For all intent greed superceads better judgment and that breeds stupidity, you ask for advise on 2 boards and got (in my opionion the best the world has to offer) Now if you want place it in A Langs auction or other valid auction house after the fees, waiting on your money etc the end resualt will or posibly be less than the experts value. Find me a green or Blue one , then I too may bid! Col. milton lorens aka SWIM JIG in OHIO with snow 2 kinds of it!
