Here is a 8" wide in diameter aluminum fishing reel w/ rod by Allcock, Laight, & Westwood (Made in Canada). The rod contains a sticker AL & W. The reel contains a sticker that reads Made in Canada w/ a maple leaf. Their are 4 small letters near the sticker that read ( TA MK ). I could find no other markings on the reel. Can anyone tell me if they have ever seen a setup like this ? Possibly how many were produced ? I can't find another rod & reel comparable to this one.
The rod measures 5 foot 8 inches. The butt section is composed of 2 parts held together by an aluminum bar. It contains a hand lever w/ a piece of leather attached for friction against the reel. Also the tip is very odd, contains a coiled spring structure similar to a car antenna. Is this tip original to the rod ? Is the steel line & plug at the end original ? Overall this setup appears to be in good to great condition, showing minor signs of age.
Any information on rarity & possible value would be greatly appreciated!
