Fasoldt made clocks, microscropes, telescopes, and a variety of other things. I think this is the third of his LW reels I've heard of.

The string a few months ago re "brain teasers" by cws resulted in 4 reels classed as nonlevel levelwinders. These included the Gyratory, Circle Guide, Spiral, and Bets or Wiggle bar. Possibly others, I can't remember.

Later I found another wheel design in eBay 7136067418 sold by 2crackedposts to fishingstuff.net. Got outbid but Seller told me buyer was ORCA member.

This eBay reel has a GROVED WHEEL on a pillar in front of the spool which moves freely back and forth. The Sellar said the line laid down evenly without any need to direct it from side to side!

The view of this kidnaped reel shows the WHEEL, apparently being driven back and forth by some internal gear system.

These different designs demonstrate true American genius at work. Should be a great article for Reel News.

Dale, hate to sound repetitious, but that eBay reel was described in RN, Nov., 2003, pg. 17. It wasn't a "great" article, though.
