I looked at a Medalist that was marked 1392, and I had someone else look at it for confirmation of the number. It's to be auctioned next month and I'm trying to appraise it but one thing has me baffled. References I've checked stated the 1392 had no line guard, yet this one clearly had the early round Diamolite guard. So:
1)Is it possible my reference is incomplete and that 1392's were also made with line guards?
and
2)What's a 1392 valued at in 'good' condition?
Thanks in advance.
Question for Pflueger Medalist nuts
1392 Medalist
I thinkyou might have a "sport"? the 1392 never had a line guard, but I have seen Medalists with the holes drilled for the line guard. For example a 1496 that has holes for the right hand crank but the line guard is set up for left hand crank and not listed as a 1596. I suspect that Pflueger used up predrilled front and backs so as not to waste them. This is an unusual reel but I have not seen any collector interest yet in these odd balls.
A good condition 1392 in my opinion is a $70 reel, that could go over a 100- 150 depending on conditon and/or interest. I can't see anyone paying a premium for the holes, but then again ?
HOpe this helps.
