Hi folks:
I hope all of you had a good weekend. I've got another reel I need help with. It's a Pflueger Temco, 3 3/4" side plate, marked 300 on bottom of foot, made of nickelled brass and has a leather thumb drag. There are 3 patents on the bearing side end plate - # 1450738,1559496, and 1608287. The Pflueger website indicates that the Temco is a model 2075, produced in 1956 and 1957, but I'm having a little trouble believing that the company would have produced such a reel that late - it seems like a date in the late 20's (last patent was issued in 1926) or early 30's would be more appropriate. Whatch'all think?
As always, thanks for your time.

Pflueger Website

Pete,

I give Pflueger credit for taking the making such a list available on the web but there are many mistakes. This is especially the case with their saltwater reels and names of reels that were used more than once for different models. The Temco you have is indeed an older version (1920s-late 1930s? - don't have my list at the moment). The reel they are referring to on the list is a later model with bakelite plates. Do a search on ebay under Pflueger Temco and you'll get the idea.

Does anyone know who is responsible for the list at Shakespeare? Would they be interested in a corrected list from the club?

Brian:

Thanks for the input - it just didn't seem right that Pflueger would wait 30 years after patenting something to bring it out as an antique (OOH,OOH, I know- I know - it was a vintage reissue!). I Googled the Temco and found all sorts of sites for fly reels, current production and stuff for sale, but no ID sites other than the "factory" one.
