Man, needs a J.C. Higgins spool!

Post by john elder »

I got this request from a nice fellow looking to complete a nice little combo he has:

Hi, I am looking for the plastic arbor for a J.C> Higgins Model 537.28080 Part number is 104 …..I bought the reel as mint in box……and missed the fact that it only has ½ of the plastic spool arbor… I normally do not have much interest in old reels ,but this sucker is sooooooo sweet and clean I would sure like to have the arbor also……… If you happen across something that will work , please let me know……. This reel was probably made by Bronson….. don’t you think? Thanks a lot, Hutch

So, I sent him to the Bronson site and he quickly found his reel and info. Would anyone happen to have a spool for this gentleman? If so, PM me and I will give you his contact info.

thanks,
john

Which Bronson reel is it? I probably have the part but less time to play guessing games.

Thats a tough arbor to find, and actually different than any other Ive seen on a Bronson made reel. Cream colored as opposed to white with 2 molded line ties! Ive only had/seen one and recently sold it with the box and reel. The 2808 is one of the later tougher reels to find. The box even tougher, and obviously the contents to complete he set that much tougher. My suggestion to him would be to search/save a bunch of different "keywords" in the 'bay and eventually he should find it, most likely on another 2808 reel. I would search JC Higgins, bronson, teal, engraved, 2808, 28080, sears, and different variations of "mispellings" of each. Good luck!
