Chris, you probably already know this but the Cardinal 3 handle is a little shorter than those that came on the 4, 6 & 7. The knobs are the same on all models and they will all interchange but the original "3" shaft is, like I said, a little bit shorter than the others.

I thought it was .There is a great cardinal article in the reel news this month that is very informative thanks Ben.These are the type reels that interest me.

Yes, the RN article was indeed informative. It does, though have a misprint or typo. The "Cardinal 3" length is correct at 2 7/16". the "Cardinal 4" length should say 2 11/16", not 2 1/16".
