Help with this ID??
Bill Rankin went these reel pics along to try and find an ID on this apparently unlabeled reel. Both the faceplate and tail plate are metal, although the "patina" makes it almost look like hard rubber. Note the knurling, both on the inner rims as well as the out edge of the faceplate. I hesitate to scream Montague on this one...thoughts??

I think older than a Montague.

It's certainly back there a ways...same genre as this JVH:

Not sure how much weight can be placed on no hole in foot...maybe not much. Handle nut on Bill's is probably replaced. also, not sure how much that knurling can be used to discriminate it.

Re: Help with this ID??
The foot without hole, the tailplate and rear bearing style remind me of the early JVH ball handle marked with Cloverleaf logo that I posted a few months ago. Looking through the compendium of JVH reels in various catalogs created by Don Champion, I noticed several examples had milled edges on the side plates but those had other JVH features not present on this reel.
