That would be a Mike Hines reel :D ... A mystery to us all, except for the pool cue rod!

I guess it will just have to be known as The Mike Hines reel. That rod has NO flex at all. I would love to catch a big king, cobia or grouper on it. Maybe one day I'll get the chance.

Once stuff started spinning it would be a potentially dangerous situation. It's a 5 to 1 multiplier and that work both ways. Perhaps someone saw this being used and came up with the meat grinder invention.

Yeah some one with long hair that was kind of excitable would be in trouble if they hooked a big one on either of those reels !!! What vintage are either of those. Mike are you going to give yours a test run on the beach ?? Lol ! John Taylor

The OP reel looks to be quite sophisticated. Looks like it has anti-reverse, free-spool, and drag... or not.
