September Reel News has arrived
September Reel News has arrived
I just got my September Reel News, a week after it was mailed. I am about as happy with that speedy delivery as I am about the issue itself. 40 pages. Steve Vernon and Tom Penniston have a history of The America Company and CW Parker & Co., both in Rockford IL. Ron Gast has a related history of Sylvanus Meek and the America Company. Dr. Todd regales us with The Allison salmon reel with that fabulous leather case that is also on the back cover. Wait till you read Willis Logan's story of Adelea McDonald and his acquisition of her casting jacket. There is a mystery reel by John Elder that was brought to the 2016 National at Buckberry Lodge for our Wine and Reels that stumped our experts and begs to be identified, a must-read on the inventory and disposition of our collections by Roger Schulz, The Sleeper by Colby Sorrells, River Reflections of Bob Miller and the Auction Block - Richard Lodge's wonderful and interesting recent internet treasures. Thank you to our editor with the mostest talent!! Are we lucky or what???

In Ron Gast's article on Sylvanus Meek and the America Company, there is mention of a second patent registered in Canada by Sutton. Here is a link to that patent.
Canada Patent 80802 FISH REEL
When you get to the link, click on the black tab called Documents to see the Claims, Drawings and Description.
