Don't understand the "4" overstamp thing. Enterprise wouldn't have marketed such a reel I feel certain. Maybe a return to factory for repair or revision?
Foot replacement: One Phoot (or something like that) replacements are common on Medalists-so they fit modern rods. Have been sold for a long while.
Any oddball reels have an added collectible value of some amount. This is an early model Medalist-1930s, which is desirable. But the finish is gone so things kind of cancel out. My guess is maybe $75.00 but what do I know?
On a more serious level, I recall helping Stu (I think) who was writing a column on Pflueger "seconds", reels less than perfect that Enterprise sold to the trade. I have one that has a minor flaw in the end plate that was sold to the Flora Dora (that's right) coupon company that gave such as redemption items. This little reel was in the box with the coupon co. paper in it (for cigar wrappers!). The column mentioned several more similar Pflueger seconds he had documented.
Purpose in mentioning this is that Enterprise was, indeed, concerned about the absolute quality of their reels and wouldn't sell any with a flaw. I consider an overstamp a flaw. Why would they overstamp a top quality reel like Medalist? Surely one of you Medalist guys knows the answer. I am not a Medalist guy.
