Vintage Reel Parts
Vintage Reel Parts
Hello I am a new member to ORCA. Without breaking any rules I don't know how to let people know how to find hard to find parts for vintage reels without promoting myself. So I hope this will be ok to let people know how to target vintage and old reel parts. You will have to PM me for more information. I have several reel models that I have lots of parts for. Shakespeare, Pflueger, Olympic, Bronson, Zebco, Ocean City, Garcia, and many more.
I know as a reel collector one of the hardest things sometimes is finding that one part that will make a collectable reel OK.
I am summiting this more as a reference and resource. I have over 20,000 parts and more coming in soon. I hope to become the goto guy for vintage and old reel parts.
I have lots of old schematics for reels that I will share freely with any ORCA member.
I have seen a new interest in other forums concerning OLympic reels. I have over a 1000+ parts and just about any schematic you may need.
Thanks ED
I should tell everyone a little about myself. I have been collecting reels since 1989. My favorite reels are Pfluegers. I have been repairing reels since 1992. I am located in Naples Florida. I like to fish both fresh and saltwater. I have fished bass tournaments for over 30 years local and tours. I have been collecting antique lures since 1995.

I just talked with a friend of mine that is sending me a large package of parts that I will receive Thursday. He said that there should be a couple in this lot. I will let you know after I look threw it. There is over 2000 bags of parts. It will take me some time to look thru them.

Re: Vintage Reel Parts
Welcome Ed! There are quite a few requests for reel parts here from time to time. All you'll need is to have a couple of transactions and word will spread pretty fast. Most of the guys needing parts post their requests in the For Sale, Trade or Wanted forum. You might want to check there every so often to see who needs what.
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)

Re: Vintage Reel Parts
I received another order of parts. I have some of you contact me and I said I would look thru this order for your parts. This may take a little while because most of the parts have no identification. So bear with me I am working on it.
Thanks Ed

So, maybe you can help me. I need a pinion clutch for an Ocean City 616---16/0 big game reel. Got one?? It is the same part that is used for the 10/0 thru the 16/0.
Thanks in Advance.....................

Re: Vintage Reel Parts
No doubt it is a hard find; but, please believe me, I was not testing you. I actually need the part and have needed it for a few years. Mine works perfectly in the retrieve mode but slips when the reeling in is abruptly stopped. I was hoping you had a stash of OC parts with one in these in the stash. Never know unless I ask..m3040c

Re: Vintage Reel Parts
Thank John! The part number is 39-C in the 1961 True Temper Reel Parts Service Manual. There are tons of small parts out there but the big game stuff I find harder to find. The pinion clutch is a common part to wear out, so buying a parts reel is not the best idea. My reel is retired (like I should be), so there is no pressure. I was just hoping.m3040c wrote:

Your find was actually a very good listing. You almost found the correct part. In that selection he had part number 39 and 39D, but not the 39C. That is the closest I have come to finding the correct part, ever. Here is what mine should look like:

The pinion clutch is pictured at the lower right corner. Notice the 16/0 clutch has a square drive center. Nothing in the bunch of EBay parts matches this one. But it was a great try anyways.
