I need a part for a # 4 A - 4/0 Fin-Nor trolling reel

Post by 54bullseye »

Hi John Taylor here I need the arbor that the lever drag rides on for a 4/0 Fin-Nor like the one pictured. Not sure what part is called but it's the Stainless part with the holes in it by the stop with the red handle. I have another reel that the part has been bent and scraped up on so it needs replacing. I do have screws.
Please let me know if you can help me locate one. Thanks !! John T.

Quadrant.

Funny, I've never seen that drag lever stop attachment before. You have several on your Nep-Tuna collection. An aftermarket add-on it would seem, by some specialist who was really into it. Anybody know more about that?

About parts, idunno, but a long time ago I noticed a guy on ebay who said he is/was/knew, "...one of the main service centers in Florida and has MANY of the older Fin-Nor parts that have never been used. Please let us know if you need anything."
And the seller's name or Ebay handle is thefisher_man .
And no, I have no idea who that person is. No connection.

Dr.Rob
I just looked that guy "thefisher_man" up on Ebay and now he only has one Fin-Nor part listed. Seems I remember a guy on Ebay a few years ago with a bunch of Fin-Nor parts also probably same guy I will contact him. About the drag lever stop I have seen that on many of the earlier Fin-Nor trolling reels made before the "Since 1933" logo appeared on the tail plate I thought they were standard on the earlier reels but not sure ?? Thanks for getting back to me guess I will keep lookin !!
Thanks John T.

If any one who reads this thread can date this reel for me that would be great. I think it would be mid 1950s to late 1960s and after that they started putting "Since 1933" on tail plate. Anyone know actual dates they were made ?? John T.

About the lever stop, hmm, yeah, maybe so. I just googled up a random picture search and some reels have it, some don't. Seemed peculiar since the anodizing color is not quite right.

I guess I just never noticed it before. Oh well, one learns something new every day.

About age, yes, something like that. I would say more like anywhere from '60s-'90s, but other people here know more about it than I do.
