I got a phone call today that Dennis Roberts, long-time ORCA member and author of several books on Mitchell reels, had passed away a couple of months ago. I could not find any verification on google.
Can anyone shed any light on this?

Yes, sadly, mr. Roberts has passed away. An obituary is planned for the next Reel News. A nice article appeared in a recent issue of Classic Angler magazine:
