Record ABU info desired.
I recently purchased a red Record ABU 5000ata yard sale. The number on the foot is 62800 and appears almost new. I listed it on ebay on Saturday night and have been getting offers to end auction early for 200-300 dollars. Can someone help me with information and/or opinion on this reel. Thank you in advance. Jason.
could be a winner!!

Record Ambassadeur 5000
Jason, $200 to $300 for your reel would be a very good buy. Your reel is valued at $250-$500 in Dan Skupien's book, "Vintage Fishing Reels of Sweden" not including the leather case, parts & oil tubes, papers, and wrench. The guys who offered you $200 to $300 to end the auction early know it and are hoping to get a good buy. Randy

Rec. Amb. 5000
Hi Jason and others,
It sold for $560 ... a very good price I would say, for the seller that is, even with the accessories and all. Daniel Skupien's valueations are mostly a bit on the high end compared to reality (sorry Daniel
)
As I'm aware the 1952 REC.AMB. 5000 would have to be the first one ever made i.e. the "S.G." marked model. It alone has the narrow shiny spool (pls. correct me if I'm wrong) . No other models execpt for the REC.AMB. 6000 first issue with the intake at the counter balance knob has a narrow shiny spool, but of course they fit'em all - respectively.
Just thought I would comment on this .. have a good day now
