I have been building my collection of trade reels marked Allcock, Laight & Westwood Toronto (AL&W). Today's find is a high quality centre-pin reel that is seen in the 1926 AL&W catalog and matches the 70 King St W, Toronto address on the reel. I am guessing it was made by JW Young, but who knows. Contrary to the impression given by the drawing in the catalog, it has the heft and precision of a well made British reel. The check on/off switch is one with a 90 degree shift to lock the check in the off position.
I just noticed that the second grasp is absent so will look for suitable parts.
