Just pick up this reel today did some research but can't find anything on this leather thumb drag. Is this oruginal equipment or some great homemade add on? Does it add to the value of the

Not really. The leather thumb drag and lack of a star drag and non-reversing crank were what distinguished the 1942 from the 1944 Service. The 1942 FA was manufactured for about 9 years, from 1949 until 1958.

Thanks for the info when I looked at other they did not have thumb drag probaly an item worn out on a lot of theses reels thanks again
