Agreed, it is quite unique. It looks like the "brass knuckles" of star drags.I like the drag star.

I’m afraid this is a bit of a mystery. We have tried in all our Kelly’s directories from the 30’s to the 70’s, (although none were published during the war years.) under both the address and the commercial sections but there is no mention of ‘Lanes Engineering’. We have also tried our planning registers and a specific book which covers the area of Roumelia Lane – Boscombe Spa Estate. I also tried our old telephone directories for the area but the only engineering works that appeared was C W Lane Engineering in Gunville Road Tarrant Hinton in 1955.
It may be that it was a small company in Bournemouth maybe sometime during the war but I’m afraid we have no records for a Lane’s Engineering in that area.
