If you have not checked out Google's "Google Earth" feature to fly around the world for free, you should give it a whirl. I've used it to see what Lake George looks like. I've learned there IS a great big lake next to the 2006 National site! Fort William Henry Hotel is at 48 Canada St. in the center of these aerial views. Sorry the graphics suck but had to limit the size of image to load here.

As another benefit, we can see where you hide your reels in your backyard! I'm going to check out Phil's backyard fishing hole in a few minutes.

Google Earth (and I suppose Microsoft's version too) is simply amazing although I was disappointed most of my state is not at as detailed a resolution.

Brian,
Nice shots. They also remind me of the pictures from Desert Storm the government would show you just before a LASER guided missle would strike... Just kidding. Lake George is a bustling community for everyone. Home of 1,000,000 beach. White sand for everyone. Traffic can be frustrating to say the least. Many attractions are a short ride away. Remember, our first victory in the war for our indepenence happened at Fort Ticonderoga, Ethan A. and crew...further north. Can't wait for the convention myself. Haven't been to one since Rochester,New York. Could buy great reels at a fraction of the price back then. Only 5 years ago.

I realize this is quite a bit in advance, some things I`ve been wondering
about; will there be a shuttle from airport to motel ? Would rather not have to rent a car again as in Texas. Or perhaps I can mooch a ride from another ORCAN...Looking forward to Lake George. Hoo Boy !

I would doubt there is a shuttle service. Lake George is about 45+- miles from Albany Int Airport. You could contact the organizers to see if there is. I travel Rt 87 aka Northway extensively and yet to see a service go that far up. Taxi's on the other hand? OUCH! Good luck.

Now, what kind of show hosts would we be if we didn't work with the hotel to provide shuttle service!?!
The folks at Fort William Henry will pick you up at the Albany International Airport if requested, all they need is your name and flight number. Look for the hotel registration form in the upcoming Reel News, along with some updates on the shows progress.
Heck, if I can, I'll personally pick up weary ORCA members and drive them myself. 'Course, you'll have to listen to me ramble on about Indiana reels ...

I stand corrected on the shuttle service. Nice to see someone is thinking ahead. Kudos to you Jim!
