REELy nice find in L'ville for me, REDIFOR's first catalog..

Post by John Savu »

When I left the Nationals, all I brought home were a couple of Musky lures to fish, and a terrible sinus infection that has had me on antibiotics for a week. Tuesday , Arlan Carter called, he had picked up a 1905 REDIFOR catalog on the floor, but forgot all about it until he arrived home.
To say he made my day, is a total understatement. The catalog contains only one reel, The REDIFOR, that later becomes known as the Model B, a 4 to 1 multiplier, that doubles as a fly and casting reel. The bulk of the catalog, refers to the many rods offered during Redifor's infancy. There are testimonials from 1904, referring to this reel, including a testimonial from James Heddon. This catalog proves that the Redifor Rod and Reel Co. was started in 1904, not the later dates that many have referred to. Hopefully, more paper from this company will turn up, and answer many other questions. Thanks again Arlan!

Great for you John - that's a tremendous addition to your collection. Kudu's to Arlan as well for getting the catalog into the right hands.
