Help tracking down fishing rod

Post by EBFJR »

Hi – recently I had a robbery at my house and one of my Shakespeare fly rods was broken – Century XX1 – 1616/300 – length 3.00M – AFTMA 8-9 – with green Shakespeare canvas bag with No. 1725 / 285 on the sewn label -- this was my Dad’s fly rod that I have not used for several years and I would rate the condition of the rod from very good to very good+ – of course the insurance company is looking for a value – can you help with determining a value – please let me know if you need any additional information -- thanks in advance -- Ed

Hi ed,

Sorry for your loss. You will find better luck getting an approximate replacement value on Clark's Classic Fly Rod board,

http://classicflyrodforum.com/forum/

Good luck, I hope you can get it repaired and use it for many years.

Sincerely,

Dr. Todd E.A. Larson

Ed,

From your description, it sounds like the rod and the rod bag don't match? Is this correct? Is the rod graphite or fiberglass? Also, is there a three-letter code anywhere on the rod, probably under the model number?

this is kind of a sub-board of Clark's - posting is slow, but the guys with the good glass collections frequent this place

I haven't heard from him in awhile, but oldsaltnfla has a huge glass collection and is always interested in selling
