New book

Post by mike c »

First I'd like to thank everyone for there help with my other posts THANKS! Now for some more questions, I just got my first book today (Lawsons 3rd ed.) and had a great time finding the reels I have in it, but there are a few I can't find, these have a trade mark and one has a arrowhead with bhd inside of it. What do you do when this happens find a reel that is made just like it but marked by a company name and say it's that company but made for someone else? also how close is Lawson in values. I have one lure book that is about double of the actual values and one about half of the actual values and would like to see just how close Lawsons is.

:D 8) :!: :?:  cool-thumb USA Mike, yes, you have to find the parent co. or if its a spinning reel then you are going to need Ben wrights book on spinning reels etc called The Wirght Price Guide for the REEL MAN) I have some reels with arrow heads and some that say ARROW with the Arrow thru the words, these are mostly Piller reels single action, and bright nickle finish) As for pricing( my obsevations. the book is a guide line, to get it correct you would have to do all the shows in each state! ( A item unlike the face value of a coin or paper bill) has of yet not been declared, its mostly subjective( go to a auction, that can be a real eye opener and a pocket book deflator! As for E-Bays Flea Market) my words! with all the shill biders etc its not in my thoughts a true guide either. If I need some parts off the reel to fix another one I may bid twice whats its worth as in the long run my client saves the labor cost of making a part) I have seen other books, I buy or trade for these books if the pics are clear and different views are shown! ORCA yes our Club generaly sets the fair and fairly accurate price a reel is worth, remeber there are more specilties in the members! Mike unless you can place the reel you are wanting in your hands, checking its condition, wear , smoothness of its working condition, check its finish, look for tell tale buffing marks, and replating marks, then you are at the target of the seller! ORCA members specilze in certain reels, however sometimes have to buy out a lot of things they dont collect or need, thus if no one else in ORCA collects that reel make it will generaly be sold at a reasonable price! To give you a firm answere the price is what you are willing to pay, would be imposible, and remeber generaly there are more coming down the PIKE! Thousands were made and thousands are still left for sale![at] Are you now totaly confused? Then welcome to the REEL Colecting world! and enjoy! Your Ohio Conection Col. Milton lorens aka SWIM JIG
