Luxor reel info. needed

Post by kevinhaney1 »

I'm starting to acquire (completely accidentally, of course) some early Luxor spinning reels. Is there any online reference that would detail the different models, productions periods, etc.? Books?

There's not a lot of info on the net about them. Try to find one of the late Ben Wright's books. His 2011 Edition would be the best but they're tough to find. The 2002 Edition is also very good and a little more reasonably priced.
Love those Open Face Spinning Reels! (Especially ABU & ABU/Zebco)

Kevin-

There is a French Author (Bernard Caminade) that has written several books on French reels (including Luxor and its cousin Crack). The Best version is the 2013 edition if you can find it. The 2018 version listed is a small one 3"X6" and only just over 100 pages. The 2013 edition is 278 pages.
As with Ben's book that Midway Tommy listed, they are mostly out of print and UNFORTUNATELY in French. You can still glean some valuable info...if you are industrious. It took me all of 2 minutes to find a version on the French version of Amazon. See link below.

Good luck!!

Well, no luck on eBay, Amazon, or Abe books. If anyone has a copy they would like to sell, or a copy of the Carney Mitchell 300 book, message me.
