Tuna/tackle pic

Post by Paul M »

I like the large scale reel, thick rod and thick line in this pic from a 1938 promotional brochure about Nova Scotia. The tunas aren't bad either.

Those are serious fish and the fisherwoman looks like a good catch as well. OK rod and reel likewise.

Chissie Farrington , wife of author S. Kip Farrington. Kip and his wife fished all around the world including such hot spots as Bimini, Nova Scotia, Chile and at the Cabo Blanco Fishing Club in Peru. S.Kip took Chissie fishing on their honeymoon, some romantic guy. Chissie also authored a book on fishing titled - Women Can Fish. She was one tough cookie and caught a lot of big tuna, marlin and swordfish.

Lucky Kip. I can't get my wife to come out fishing at all. Some would say that's a good thing I guess. I would love to get her out with me - maybe one day but married 50 years and no luck yet.

I’m with Big Hoss, I would be happy if my wife joined me on my fishing trips!

Looks like Someone mounted Mrs bloomingdale’s VH backwards. Would think a serious fisher woman would have burned that one :o

I believe it is a left handed reel. If reel was turned around so handle was facing us...the click lever would be on the front of the back side plate...it should be on the back of the side plate if it was a right handed reel.

The screw configuration on the back plate of that big 16/0 EVH reel is completely different than anything I have seen, kind of in a triangle pattern. I would assume that Mrs. Bloomingdale could have her reel built and mounted any way she wished.

Here are a couple more pics of women with big tuna including another with the incomparable Mrs Farrington.

Amazing! Someone mentions women and tuna and a s-load of pics with enormous fish appear out of nowhere! Amazing! Any pics of left-handed kindergarteners with gigantic fish?
