Need Some Help Identifying This Reel

Post by banzai »

I’ve been collecting for about 16 years and am having trouble getting an identity on this reel. I’m leaning towards Heddon. The spacers I believe are hard rubber instead of Bakelite. Most Bakelite spacers I’ve seen have molding marks on the sides. These spacers are smooth no marks and when rubbed, produce a brown reside consistent with hard rubber. Thanks Dennis

No, not a Heddon product.

Quite a Unique Level Wind Arm and the Flat Mount Side plate Screws along with the Machine Screwed Clicker Spring and the extended Gearing Cover reminds me of one of my reels if I can just find it. Good Luck but surely someone here can explain it ..............

Dennis,
No question in my mind that is a Yale reel - the question is what model. I'm thinking a King Duz-Wine, maybe a model 88, though tough to say since it isn't stamped. If you google Yale Casting Reel you'll see several like yours, except of course they are marked.

Thanks for the help. The reason I purchased it was because of the line guide. I had never seen one like it.

Your reel is an unmarked Yale No. 88 "King Duz Wine." See link above for more info.
