Crystal fishing reel

Post by Reelman »

USA :type: Since it is slow today I thought I show so pictures of my crystal fishing reel. It is a multiplier and it does work. The handle turns the main gear and that turns the pinion gear on the spool and the spool spins. I guess all I need now is 80 yards or so fiber optics. And I can put my crystal flying Hellgramite on and go fishing :)

So when are you going to make one with ceramic drags?

Here is the Crystal Flying Hellgramite and a five hook minnow. If it moves on the real bait he made it move on the ones he made. The hooks hang free and the propellers spin on the five hooker and wings spin on the Flying Hellgramite

A friend made them for me and some for sell. He does glass blowing. They are all made free hand. Corning glass orders from him all the time for sell in their gift shop. You should see the hunter he just made. A nice ring necked pheasant in flight with a hunter in the field ready to fire. It was about 10 ins. long by about 5 ins tall.

I think Merv's 5 hook minnow is a Heddon 00 Minnow. Marilyn and I have a Heddon 150 in crystal in the case hanging right next to me now. We got it from Merv quite a few years ago. These are beautiful fishing collectibles.

Merv, were those made by the same guy that made some for Doc Herr? He had lures, reels, rods and guns made from blown glass.
GREAT display pieces!
Thanks for sharing

Yes these were made by the same man. We both went down to see Doc Herr. And Doc Herr bought a number of them and the other reel that he made. We got a tour of his collection in the basement. That is some thing I will never forget. The lures and reels I seen. And the number of very rare lures and reels :!: :!: :!: It looked like he had everything :loco:
