I was wondering if anyone is familiar with a reel made by "Moonlight"? Moonlight being predominantly a Lure Maker I assume the reel would be a trade reel? How scarce are they, Value seems to determine scarcity?
Appreciate any information.

Re: My First Post here w/ a question
The Moonlight marked reels are rare and command pretty strong value. One of the other experts here will be able to tell you who made it, it was one of the major reel manufacturers like Shakespeare, Bronson, or Montague, but I can't immediately recall which one.
Wanted: Horton, Bristol & Meek reels, reel boxes, and catalogs!!!!

Oldlurecw is a good guy. He helped me with my collection when I lived in Virginia almost 28 years ago. We traveled to several shows together. I still have on my wall the beautiful case he made and gave me to put some of my reels in.

It would be great to see photos, not familiar with that reel. See this article for instructions on posting photos. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15596

Re: My First Post here w/ a question
There was a reel marked Moonlight posted on a Facebook group many months ago. I can’t find the post any more but
my recollection is that it looked like a common style trade reel as mentioned above. To me, the key to its collector value would be evidence of an actual connection to Moonlight Balt Co.

Re: My First Post here w/ a question
Is the reel marked "Moonlight Bait Co." or just "Moonlight?" Bait company names have a nasty habit of appearing on reels and convincing collectors that they were made by those bait companies. One old example would be the "Chapman & Co."-marked reels made by the Terry Clock Co. There are Creek Chub Bait Co. Indiana-style reels around that I doubt were made by Creek Chub.
