Post Office mailings

Woe is us to expect efficiency from the PO. My daughter lives w/ me and
recently started using NETFLIX to rent movies via the internet AND the
mail system...so far she has rented AND returned 3 in LESS than a week
all by mail ! Now THAT is hard to swallow considering all of the anguish
we poor ORCANs have to suffer ! What are we missing ?

Are you suggesting that Richard make the 'Reel News" into a movie? What a great idea! He could include a bag of Orvil Redenbacher"s and a box of Dum-Dum's with it.

Done!

Post by Richard Lodge »

Consider it done, gentlemen. "Reel News, The Movie", rate PG-13 (because of a lot of anti-backlash action, battle scenes and some rough language). And just imagine the sequels: "Reel News: Shakespeare in Love"; "Reel News: That's Pflueger with a P"; "Reel News: Hi-O Nickel Silver!"
Nah.

:D :o :? 8)   cool-thumb USA Richard, you may want to offer the P.O. a free ad space in the ORCA Mag, advise them that if they advertise fast service and should the mag take 20 or so days to get to a member, that will cause them much worry! ( all items aside, when these poor overworked folks get their raise ! HMMM! bet it speeds up things , also just thinking that if the mag was stapled and only our ads were on the back page? well then posibly the mag wont come with assorted food and bevearge flavors on the cover and pages! ( I have solved my mailing problem by bypasing that darn Cleveland OFFICE, If I mail from Vermilion Ohio the mail Goes to Mansfield OHIO, same as when I mail from Loudonville OHIO, When i drop mail in at Sandusky or Port clinton Ohio it goes to Toledo Ohio, and everone gets good service! I mail from Amherst even By Priority and it takes days as it goes to that dreaded Cleveland Office! Again does it cost extra if the mag is stapled Shut!? Your ohio Conection On lake ERIE Col. Voulenteer fist class?

Post by el Lawrence »

Could we have a volunteer first class postage? If you want it yesterday you can opt in to a pay extra and Richard will put that puppy in a 1st class packet and pop it right in the mail to you (again for a price). The rest of us that are happy to wait for our BULK RATE slow wagon train/burro delivery can stay at the budget rate. I imagine Richard would end up only upgrading a small stack to first class but at least folks would have that option. However if EVERYONE opted in... we could rethink this bulk thing too... :? The folks that couldn't afford it maybe we could start a fund to cover...

Hmmmm a reel music video... my mind is reeling. We will have to see if we cant get a video crew together for NY06.

Hi,

How about we just consider the Sept. Reel News as the November Reel News? Then when it comes (presumably before Nov. 01) you can be happy at how early your November Reel News arrived.

Seriously, I hope no one thinks Richard has any control over when (or even if) your Reel News arrives. Other than to convert directly to an electronic version, there is absolutely no rhyme nor reason to how soon you will get your copy. Richard edits the Reel News, gets it to the P.O. and there his obligation ends. I understand the frustration (I have personally partaken in it) but what other alternative is there? A "voluntary" first class upgrade would be a huge burden on the financial record keeping as well as add tremendously to the editor's work load, as he would then have to bag and address each copy of the Reel News for 1st class standards.

Other than the creation of a digital Reel News (a possibility as it could then be emailed to those who so choose) the only solution is PATIENCE.

Cheers,

Dr. Todd

Please understand my post was not one of complaint ! Just tried to point
out the gross difference of some users, you`d think it would all be treated the same.

Todd and others who don't know or remember - we tried a digital issue about 4-5 years ago. No one was impressed. I liked it and thought color pictures were neat, but everyone wanted a copy they could read in their easy chair in front of the fireplace.

very bad idea!! computor REEL NEWS?? you gone NUTS!

Post by SWIM JIG »

:( :? :x   :!:  :loco: USA I dont remeber that issue! However thats a lazy way to do it, How in the Blank would we save it? How would the (REEL FIX) with diagrams work? and with all this garbage they put on the TUBE, at least I can read some sanity into my life! next I would have to learn how to run this electronic contraption, would not be able to tur pages, or use the REEL NEWS to swat flies, etc! As for color pics, how would I get them? my TV is still black and white, my 888 radio shack computor is still black and white! (I like it that way) And that would also mean either I or the Dog would have to pedal more on the generator to crank out more electric! Just stay as it is a paper back mag! I love that way! I can keep my back issues to recap on, and I am still old ways oriented! For those of you that read the comic(Crank Shaft ) Most that know me say the strip reminds them of ME! My wife would quit her job of setting type for my article (The REEL FIX) she is happy with the new set of letters I got her for Christmas) I letter at a time! DO NOT change anything, after all are we not known as the (OLD REEL COLLECTORS ASSOCIATION)? whats next cyber space reels? and how would we cast them or enter the antique casting contest or The Stew Lawson reel TOSS?) And the real problem, will you offer computor classes, or cheaper electric rates! ( please just mail my REEL NEWS on Paper ! no cds, floppys , cyper bits or chips, blips or bops, ! RN made Northern California yesterday . I guess Post Office ran out of storage room & decided to bring it out. Good job Richard. I don't think you need to worry about being replaced. I haven't seen any lines forming to get your job. As any job goes you always have the sidewalk Supt. LOL
